A panel in the Department of Homeland Security has issued a memo that essentially rebukes Joe Biden for his agenda to create a “Disinformation Governance Board” and impose its ideologies on Americans.
A report at Just the News cites a recent statement from the Homeland Security Advisory Panel that said, “We have concluded that there is no need for a Disinformation Governance Board.”
WND had reported that Biden was attracting comments comparing his administration and his “disinformation” agenda to “1984” and its “Ministry of Truth.”
His strategy was to have a government operation that could censor Americans and control what information they could have.
Biden quickly retreated given the American outrage that erupted over his plan, and administration officials hemmed and hawed and explained the board really wasn’t operational yet.
But details on that issue remain murky, so the American Center for Law & Justice sued for the details.
Its lawsuit is a Freedom of Information Act case seeking details about the development and launch of the censorship program.
Significant in the case is that Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas claimed that the operation had “not yet begun its work.”
But documents already uncovered show that plans for the operations were launched as early as September 2021 and Mayorkas signed the board’s charter in February 2022.
At that point it was operational.
Then two months later, Nine Jankowicz, whose expertise in disinformation appears to come from her campaigns using it, not fighting it, confirmed she’d been working on the project for some time.

And while Biden’s retreat may have officially suspended the program, “new evidence has made it clear that the Biden administration is intent on censoring and spying on Americans.”
The ACLJ said it obtained some documents from Josh Hawley, R-Mo., and Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and they reveal “alarming details about the draconian Disinformation Board that contradict much of what the Biden administration claimed when it finally announced the new committee.”
“That math simply doesn’t add up. In fact, those documents also revealed that the DGB was planning a meeting with representatives from Twitter on April 28th to ‘Propose that Twitter become involved in Disinformation Governance Board Analytic Exchanges on Domestic Violent Extremism (DVE) and Irregular Migration,’” the ACLJ reported.
“And remember, we told you that when the Biden administration says ‘Domestic Violent Extremism,’ they’re referring to American parents who voice objections to leftist curriculums and policies. Biden’s DHS tags them the same way they do terrorists.”
The ACLJ reported, “Also, according to Senators Hawley and Grassley, ‘DHS officials appear to have prepared legislation to codify a ‘Rumor Control Program of the Department of Homeland Security to Counter Misinformation, Disinformation, and Malinformation,’ including a public-facing website known as ‘Rumor Control.’”
The board included Michael Chertoff, Jamie Gorelick, Ted Schlein, Sonal Shah, Ali Soufan and Matthew Ferraro.
The members met with leaders and subject matter experts from every DHS component that plays a role in the mis- dis- and mal-information missions, it said.
Those included the office of the secretary, privacy, office of public affairs, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agenda, Office of Intelligence and Analysis and more.
They found, in addition to no need for the Disinformation Governance Board, “We are no ready, as of yet, to provide recommendations on the department’s most effective approach to disinformation threats, including commitments to increase transparency and protect civil rights, civil liberties, and privacy.”
Just the News described the result as a “rebuke” to Biden.
The report said the announcement was “immediately cheered by congressional Republicans as proof the Biden administration overstepped its bounds with a proposal that often drew comparisons to George Orwell’s Ministry of Truth.”
House Homeland Security Republicans, on social media, said, “From its initially botched rollout, the ‘Ministry of Truth’ lacked a defined mission or even direction. It was clear it was a political tool to be wielded by the party in control.”
Hawley said, “DHS decides today there was no need for its unconstitutional Disinformation Board after all.”
